The taste refinement journey to start ALANTI

ALANTI Watches was born from a journey of watchmaking discovery span over 40 years. I disassembled my first watch, a hand wound, small seconds Popeda I convinced my grand father to give it to me for my birthday at age five. He had a few, but that piece was the most attractive design to me, and days later I wanted to understand how it's done and how it works. On champagne guilloche dial, very thin, it still is my most treasured epitome of watch design. I no longer have that watch, but I treasure my parents' 60 year old Certina couple watches. After teenage years reassembling all electronic watches, my twenty's' were dominated by Swatch, first quartz, then wow, I discovered their chrono automatic. My first real Swiss elegant was a Longines Dolce Vita on a bracelet, a major step-up that resonated with my corporate HQ always dressed up work. But I was a high achiever at work and stocks trading, with great school results (scored a very very rare perfect 10 in math at my baccalaureate), so I wanted to round up my education with an MBA focused on finance. I moved to Canada and was accepted at my top choice, University of Toronto, with the goal of studying Options and Futures with the late prof. dr. John Hull. How wrong was I, because there I discovered the power of design! I was trained and was painting as a passion, but matching craft with imagination is a rare gift. Design however is more about idea, concept, relevant functionality. It's getting to the essence, and this is what I do best.

My two years during the masters degree were highly formative. 
Later on I had a powerful moment of discovery — the breathtaking beauty of precious stone dials, first encountered in the watches of H. Moser & Cie. That revelation sparked a mission: to bring the wonder of rare, hand-selected stones to the wrists of collectors around the world.

A Founder's Journey

Founded by Al Antimia and based in Ottawa, Canada, ALANTI is a deeply personal project. What began as an obsession with exceptional watchmaking has grown into a globally recognized independent watch brand — one that has exhibited at five major international watch shows and earned the admiration of seasoned collectors and curious newcomers alike.

Building ALANTI has meant frequent flights across the world to coordinate production, oversee quality control, and hand-select every stone that becomes a dial. It is a labour of love — one that balances the demands of global watchmaking with the grounding joy of family life back home in Ottawa.

Inspired by the Masters

ALANTI's creative foundation is rooted in deep respect for the achievements of H. Moser & Cie and the vision of Edouard Meylan. The stone dials pioneered by Moser opened a new world of possibility — and ALANTI set out to explore that world with its own distinct voice: daring case designs, exquisite and previously unseen precious stones, and an uncompromising commitment to refinement.
